Sticky Soy & Ginger Chicken with Habhals Kicap Manis

Looking for an easy yet flavour-packed dinner? This sticky soy and ginger chicken is a guaranteed winner! Using Habhals Kicap Manis - Sweet Soy Sauce, this dish delivers a perfect balance of sweet and savoury with a rich, caramelised glaze. Perfect for a midweek treat or an indulgent weekend feast.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp Habhals Kicap Manis - Sweet Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • 1 spring onion, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Steamed rice, to serve

Method:

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, mix Habhals Kicap Manis, soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, sesame oil and rice vinegar. Add the chicken thighs, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for deeper flavour).
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken, reserving excess marinade. Cook for 5–6 minutes on each side until golden brown and caramelised.
  3. Make the Sticky Glaze: Pour the remaining marinade into the pan. Let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens and coats the chicken.
  4. Serve: Slice the chicken and drizzle with extra glaze. Garnish with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve with steamed rice for a complete meal.
